Volz & Associates specializes in the revitalization of historic buildings and traditional new design.

We are adept at identifying and prioritizing rehabilitation needs specifically for historic properties, and we work to exceed owner expectations. We develop innovative solutions to life safety, ADA compliance, and improved functionality without compromising the historic integrity of the building. Primary project types include civic, institutional, governmental, commercial, and residential properties.

Our extensive knowledge and specialized training works to the benefit of our clients and the significant buildings for which they are responsible. Our expertise includes the restoration of historic masonry, wood conservation, window restoration, roof systems, traditional material detailing, and historical interiors. Four of our staff are LEED APs, leading us to research and advocate for sustainable and energy efficient design within a historic context.

On a personal level, we are actively involved in a variety of community service and professional organizations, including Preservation Austin, the Austin History Center Association, local schools, the University of Texas, neighborhood associations, the Historic Preservation Education Foundation, and the Association for Preservation Technology, among others.
