Who we are

Stranger’s Guide brings international locations into new focus, commissioning stories from local writers and photographers to build authentic portraits of a place. We design our award-winning print guides, newsletters, carefully selected products and partnerships to combat stereotypes while expanding global citizenship.

Our guides

Through arresting photography, luminous essays, and fascinating facts and figures, our collectible print guides bring together topics as diverse as arts, sports, politics and human rights to provide a new understanding of each place. 

Rather than parachute in foreign writers, our quarterly guides feature original works from local voices. These stories portray unique facets of each place, from the complex and controversial to the intimate and beautiful, together building a contemporary awareness of the location and its culture.

Our work has been featured in the Best American Travel Writing collection and we’ve garnered three National Magazine Award nominations. Our volumes have featured a number of world-renowned writers, including Cervantes Prize winner Elena Poniatowska, National Book Award winner Colum McCann and Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka.
