Indian Influence In Cambodia

In Cambodia, the 12th-century temples of Angkor Wat boast exquisitely carved scenes from Indian mythology, including the battle at Kurukshetra (as described in the epic poem Mahabharata) between the Kauravas (descendants of king Kuru) and their cousins the Pandavas (the sons of king Pandu) for dynastic succession. Indian influence in the territory began with the arrival of traders from Hindu kingdoms in 500 BCE.
