Boxing Day in South Africa falls in summer and is a public holiday, which means lots of businesses are closed. Cape Town Tourism has a web page devoted solely to what to do that day and while it’s sparse (go to the beach, take a hike, have a picnic, grab some breakfast), hitting the beach the day after Christmas seems more than appealing. “The weather is warm and skies are clear,” it says. “It’s also good to note that beaches get incredibly busy on Boxing Day, with heavily congested traffic, so try and get there early to secure your spot.”
