Victim of its Own Popularity

Mallorca has long been a favorite destination for British holiday makers. But the tourism industry has left locals with challenges like increased pollution and overcrowding. Last summer a group of anti-tourism locals painted hotels with graffiti and greeted newly arriving travelers at the airport with signs reading “Tourism Kills Mallorca.” Local activist group Tot Inclos believes the impact of 10,000 people arriving at the capital Palma’s airport every day is unsustainable.
