City of Austin (Residential) - Foundation + Framing plans now required

Effective March 4, 2013 the City of Austin Residential Review Department will require foundation and framing plans for additions and new construction of one and two-family structures. This submittal requirement was approved with the new Residential Building Permit Application (effective January 1); however, the HBA appealed the rule which since has been recinded.

The AIA has been assured by the supervisor of Residential Review that the structural drawings will not be necessary to submit an application up front, but will be necessary before the plans are approved and a building permit is obtained. This is an effort to minimize costs if design is changed during the zoning review process to achieve compliance.
