May 6th Waterfront Talkabout 4 - Join AIA Austin's Urban Design Committee by attending this free public lecture by Alex Krieger FAIA, on Principles for Transforming Urban Waterfronts. The Waterfront Talkabout lecture series features experts who highlight best practices and inspirational examples of waterfront planning and development. The lecture series aims to engage the public and enrich the community conversations in relation to the South Central Waterfront Initiative, which will create designs, policies and recommendations to guide public and private investments over the next 20 years. The City of Austin was recently awarded an EPA grant to study the area over the summer to help refine the vision of this area going forward. 1.5 LU/HSW. Event takes place at the Mexican American Cultural Center, 600 River Street. Doors open at 6:30 PM; presentation begins at 7:00 PM. Parking is free at the MACC lot. click here for pdf.

May 16th Designvoice and Imagine Austin are organizing an event next month called "Walk the Talk: Missing Middle Housing in Austin" which will feature a panel discussion and self guided tour of missing middle in the North Loop neighborhood, 505 Caswell Ave.
