 Professional Practice-

IBC 2012, IRC 2012, TAS 2012, IECC2012:.  As we await details of the City code adoption process, we are putting out a request to committee chairs to gather interested people.    Let us know if you want to get involved!

Residential Liason Stuart Sampley reports that start of official McMansion update process is imminent. 

Commercial Liason Michael Hsu reports that start of Commercial Design Standards update is imminent. 

Kit Johnson (not present) will send clarification of City LEED goals and City RFQ schedule to AIA. 

Sally Fly will inquire with local architects about AISD press release promoting pre-engineered components.  

Community Outreach-

Bastrop Emergency Relief Efforts-  We referred ACDDC questions re: proposed Bastrop resource center grant to the TSA’s Disaster Action, Inc.  A meeting has been scheduled to hear potential opportunities and roles for AIA Austin members.  Advocacy committee is also releasing a “partnership application” to streamline this type of request.

Advocacy happy hour- Michael Cowan will finalize date.

Philip Southwick reports that Old Bakery Ideathon continues with monthly lunches, monthly Parks Foundation workdays, and a February lecture at Green Pastures.  Jana McCann suggested a meeting with Charlie at the Parks Foundation.  Responding to Heather McKinney's request (not present) we are looking to synchronize Old Bakery activities with the TSA State Convention, so as to maximize exposure for volunteers that choose to get involved in the short-term and long-term planning of the block.

Richard Weiss:  Other community opportunities such as SDAT on Lady Bird Lake, Austin Comprehensive Plan, and Butler park mentioned for 2012. 

Expanding Influence-

Leadership retreat- Richard Weiss reported venue as Highball for January 14th and we reviewed the agenda.

Stuart Sampley will assemble a list of architects on design-related City Boards and Commissions so we can update them on AIA resources available to our community leaders.
