Planning a Tube Town
Suggested for 2nd - 5th graders.
You can be creative with items around the house and things you can find in the recycling bin…like the paperboard rolls from toilet paper and paper towels. Use these and other recycled items, along with common arts and crafts supplies, to make your own tiny town!
Materials:
- toilet Paper, paper towel, or gift wrap paperboard rolls
- safety scissors
- glue or glue stick
- tape
- construction paper
- acrylic paint and brushes, or colored markers
Step 1: Make your buildings colorful! Paint the rolls, color with markers, or wrap rolls with colorful construction paper.
Step 2: Draw a door on the roll, or make one using construction paper and glue it on. Cut the roll with safety scissors so that the door opens.
Step 3: Draw on windows and other building elements, or cut them out of construction paper and glue them on.
Step 4: Cut shapes out of construction paper to make a roof and glue it on. Try drawing a pattern on your roof, like zigzags or mini triangles.
Step 5: Attach tape to the inside of the roll (sticky side out) and attach your roof.
