AIA-CNU-ASLA CodeNEXT Team Input - December 2013

The CodeNEXT Project is in its initial "Listening to the Community" phase, and over that last 6 months, and has asked for stakholders and community groups to come forward with their issues, concerns and priorities for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get our Code right.

In November 2013, interested members of the AIA Austin and the Central Texas Chapter CNU met together to identify what they felt were the most important issue areas.  Finally, during the month of December, this informal Task Force, now including some members of ASLA,  met three times to identify and finalize major code issues, suggest potential approaches and provide any cases or examples that help portray these issues and approaches.

On December 13th, Jana McCann, who is also on the Opticos Team,  delivered 6 sets of information relating to:  Neighborhood Character and Complete Communities; Urban Design; Open Space, Environment & Sustainability; the Code and the Development Process;  Imagine Austin Policy Alignment; and  Household Affordability,
